The exhibition featured the photographs of nine Nisei veterans from Colorado representing the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and Military Intelligence Service from Sato’s book “The Go For Broke Spirit,” which includes portraits, personal snapshots, and biographies of more than 80 Nisei veterans.
I assisted in hanging each of the portraits. This installation was challenging due to the weight of the frames. They were recycled steel and weighed about ten pounds each. My supervisor and I were able to troubleshoot the situation and come up with a french cleat-like hanging system that would spread the weight between multiple points.
